Please, thank you, and excuse me are some of the basic words or phrases that we need in any country. However, there are others that are helpful to learn such as, "Where is the bathroom?", Can I have a menu? or How much does this cost?  Even in the countries that speak English like Australia and England, they have different colloquialisms which will make understanding common expressions quite challenging at times.
